I have two children at home. As unique as they are to me, these two
children are very similar to every other child in one respect.
They all could be the Greatest Salesforce on the planet! Let
me explain what I mean. Have you ever witnessed yours or
someone else’s child in a grocery store wanting a toy?
Imagine that the child is the salesperson, and the parent is
the potential customer. Is the child usually afraid to ask for
the toy? Even if the parent says, “No”, does the child stop
asking? Even if the child does stop asking for the first toy,
don’t they immediately ask for something else like candy or
a soda?

Kids have at least three important traits that I believe all
successful Salesforces should have, and they are 1) passion
for a product, 2) a sense of urgency, and 3) no fear of being
turned down.

From my own experiences, whatever our children want,
they desire with their entire being. They seem to believe that
every request is truly a life or death situation or struggle.
This is the definition of passion. Just imagine if your
Salesforce showed this amount of conviction for all of the
products or services that they represented.

Children only have one sense of time and that is now. In a
child’s mind, there was no yesterday, and there is no
tomorrow. They exist in the present. To them there will
never be a better time to request anything from their parents
than right now. They will never say, “Well, maybe I’ll wait
and ask for that toy next time”. They ask now. There are no
missed opportunities, no delays, and no procrastination. To
a Salesforce this translates to 1) they make that one more
sales call before the end of the day, 2) they offer the
customer that additional option before completing the
original sale, and 3) they return all customer inquires today.

Children also possess a characteristic that is vital to a
successful Salesforce. They have no fear of rejection. They
can repeatedly be told ,”No”, but they know in their heart of
hearts that every once in a while there will be an eventual
“Yes”. Not being deterred by rejection is closely coupled
with another extremely successful selling tactic, and that is
repetition. They do not stop asking even after the third or
sometimes fourth rejection.

I do believe that all successful Salesforces should have 1) a
passion for their product or service, 2) a sense of urgency,
and 3) lack of fear of being turned down. As it has been
published many times before, “Sales is not a dirty word”!
Any company that wants to make a profit, must make sales.
If you want to increase your sales, watch some children in
action for a while and you will understand what I am writing
about.

You’ll first need to decide on a product (or products) to promote. This is an important first step to anyone who wants to be successful. There are affiliate programs for virtually every product available, so there is no reason or excuse to promote things that you don’t know anything about. I’ve found that providing a well-written review of a product or service that I use and like is often the most effective way to market it. My reviews are honest descriptions of the pros and cons of the product that I am promoting, they’re not one-sided glowing reviews, and I try to provide an honest assessment of the product for my readers to see. People respond to an honest review and can almost always tell if the reviewer really knows what they’re talking about or not.

The next important step is to target the products you promote to your visitors. What is your blog about? Your readers are probably coming to your to learn about something, so the products you promote should be related to that subject. Relevancy converts, so if your blog is about Stereo equipment, you’ll want to market speakers and cables etc.

Lastly you’ll need to find a way to keep in contact with your readers. You’ll rarely (if ever) make a sale on a visitor’s fist time at your site. All successful affiliate marketers collect email addresses from their visitors. Building an opt-in list of people who are interested in your niche allows you to promote products to them over and over again. The money is in the list is a very familiar refrain that echoes around the web.

Lastly, affiliate marketing is as much a numbers game as anything else. You need to be working your site everyday, consistently to build your traffic numbers up and keep your readers happy. With time and effort, you’ll learn what works and what doesn’t. Good Luck!

Using mailing lists is one of the best ways to get new affiliate marketing leads. Of course, you could buy a list of thousands of prospects that has been used by other people. You could then effectively spam each one of them.

Rather, we are talking about opt-in or even better double opt-in real mailing lists. Don’t use your money to buy a list of names, instead build your own list! It will cost you less and will be of better quality.

Here’s an example.

You have a simple website where you offer helpful information about how to train pet birds to behave well or talk. Through that site you promote one or more affiliate marketing programs. Maybe you link to a CD that helps your visitor and you make profits (or hope to) from the sales your link generates through affiliate marketing.

Or another possibility is if you link to an online ecommerce website selling products matching your visitors’ interests. You would earn some affiliate commissions from those who purchase thanks to you.

Whatever type of affiliate marketing you have in place, if you get visitors on your site and those visitors are in the need of information, then it becomes possible to build your own mailing list. Why not start? It’s not that difficult.

Online there are so many different companies offering their mailing lists managing services, on one side you will find the free mailing lists managers with few features and sometimes not very robust. On the other side you will find very expensive programs with a ton of features. Choose one that fits your budget and your anticipated demand. No need to ruin yourself with expensive programs, especially when you are just starting and if and when your affiliate marketing leads list grows to enormous proportions you will still have the ability to migrate it to another service.

When you are ready and have your mailing list system ready to work, it’s time to get affiliate marketing leads to go into it. If your website talks about X, Y, or Z, or any topic as previously mentioned, then you’re obviously providing information about birds to draw visitors there to click on your affiliate links. Simply ask people to register at your site, or to subscribe to your newsletter, with more of that great information. Of course if you just display a tiny register box without any information you will not build a huge mailing list, it’s critical that you entice your visitors to sign up. And if they do, you’ll send them 10 tips on how to keep a bird from biting or any other information related to your topic. Find something of value to your specific customers that you can offer to get them to sign up, or opt-in, to your list.

This is an excellent way to generate affiliate marketing leads of people who are receptive to the products you’re selling.

There was a piece on National Public Radio several weeks ago about unemployment services, and it took a closer look at the human side of the job crisis through short interviews with several people who had come to an unemployment benefits seminar at the unemployment office on the specific day that the public radio broadcast team happened to be there. They interviewed people from varied backgrounds and job histories, but one person that stuck in my mind was a woman who said that she had been laid off from her job in “Internet Marketing.”

For some reason, I felt worse for this woman than I did for the rest of the interviewees, because in her role as an employee of some major dot com corporation, she had come so much closer than most people ever will to the realization that she could make a living with internet websites – and yet she was still on the unemployment line!

For the rest of us, though, it doesn’t have to be that way. By virtue of the fact that you have sought out information, either through a search engine query or by clicking a link, that has lead you to this article, you have shown that you are interested in the kind of information that will eventually let you write your own ticket in life – if it hasn’t already.

So, what’s the best way to choose a niche market? There are two general schools of thought on this topic. One says that you should choose a niche that you are personally passionate about and/or have a lot of knowledge of. The other says that you should choose a niche where the most money is being spent, regardless of whether it interests you or not.

Both of these routes can be profitable, but neither guarantees that you’ll find a worthwhile niche. That’s because there are disadvantages to each. Choosing a niche that you’re passionate about is good in that you’ll be more motivated to work, and your interest and expertise will be conveyed to the reader, making a positive impression. But if the niche is one where there aren’t any buyers, you’re not going to make much profit, not matter how enthusiastic you are about what you’re doing. Conversely, choosing a high-demand niche purely for the profit potential won’t work if you hate the time that you spend working – you won’t be so motivated to keep going, and you’ll find it harder to make a connection with your audience.

The solution? Many people have found the most success when they choose a niche that they have at least some degree of personal interest in, but where there are also enough people who are spending money, and products for them to buy. That way you get the best of both worlds. But how do you know if a niche you’re interested in is profitable? There are a few things you can do. I’m not saying go out and blow all your money on some wild venture but have a look at the various opportunities that may be presented to you. The beauty of the Internet is that we marketers don’t have to spend a fortune to see if an idea/product/service will pay of. We don’t need to spend hundreds of thousands on a marketing campaign to see if a product will sell or not. I can tell you that right now there are many products out there flying of the shelves. I have no idea were the illusion has come from that trade has totally stopped.

When you go out shopping ask yourself what are all the other people around you doing? Spending money is the answer.

You see people what to find the best deal, so they come online and search about. That is why review sites are so powerful. Too often people create review sites and they’re total garbage. You need to be honest and straight talking. Provide 3-4 products within the niche you’re targeting and give a straight up review of each one.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t pitch but don’t just go the corporate route about it….”I discovered this awesome product that does this and does that”.

When you’re writing a review it’s natural to name a few flaws, it makes the review look more credible. This product is great in this area but there were a few small things that I didn’t link such as…(list them) but all in all I would recommend this as a good buy.
